University of Pretoria student, Heidi van Eeden, has taken first place in Corobrik’s 27th Architectural Student of the Year Award with her thesis Machinarium: Architecture as a living machine, a 21st century textile mill. Heidi is pictured with the model of her winning entry entitled Machinarium.

Contemporary Architecture of Nelson Mandela Bay


Coastal Contemporary was convened and edited by Professor Albrecht Herholdt, director of architecture at The Matrix Urban Designers and Architects in Port Elizabeth. The book presents fifty-five meritorious buildings in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (NMBM), all of which were completed since the beginning of 2000.
