Clay Brick LCA presented in the USA

CBA Technical Director Nico Mienie presented the South African Clay Brick Industry Lifecycle Assessment at the 2017 Clemson Brick Forum South Carolina, from 2–4 October. Hosted by the National Brick Research Center, the Forum continues to be a place for the sharing of information and ideas throughout the North American brick industry. Brick companies and suppliers come together to discuss individual problems they have experienced and share their solutions.

The event's technical program emphasized “back-to-basics”, but continues to introduce innovation and cutting-edge technologies. The program on Tuesday and Wednesday included talks on environmental topics, for example the first industry-wide LCA from South Africa, the US program against air pollution, international Silica Regulations, as well as building code challenges relating to energy and new products from industry leaders. The National Brick Research Center’s thermal performance research was also highlighted.
